Using Gems

Today over at Practical Scrappers the ladies are giving you 10 things to do with gems.  I used gems to stand in for parts of text.  It really gives your message a pop and lets your letters dress up a bit :-)  These gems are actually super cheapies from the Dollar Tree.  I didn't have three sizes of pink, so I ended up coloring the little dot on the exclamation point pink and it worked out great.  Yay for sharpies!!

Pop on over to Practical Scrappers and check out the cool ideas from the other designers.  Those ladies are so creative!

Wedding Cake...yummy

Tis the season for weddings!  I get the pleasure of a trip to Seattle to watch one of my favorite people get married in August.  I'm thrilled, and since my brother just relocated there as well, it's a double whammy of amazingness :-)

This card is my take on a CAS and fun wedding card and is part of today's theme over on Practical Scrappers!  Head on over and check out the beautiful creations of the Practical Scrappers design team!

Card Challenges

Things are getting back to normal here at the house so I've been able to get some good craft time in.  Yay!  Sewed two maxi skirts - which I will now wear 24 hours a day :-)  and got to get in on some card challenges.  My mom has been requesting thank you and birthday cards, so I've been trying to concentrate on those two themes.

This card is for two really fun challenges: the CAS-ual Fridays Strips of Paper challenge and the Play Date Cafe color challenge.

I love how easily this came together, and think that it may be a popular go-to design for lots of other cards.  I also got to break out my butterfly punch and punched the blue paper to add a strip of yellow behind for texture.  I even made the word "Friend" bi-colored in a stripe.  (Getting crazy over here!)  :-)

Christmas in July

It is Christmas in July at the Go Fish! Challenge Blog.  I'm dreaming of heaps of snow and jingle bells :-)  Since it's been in the triple digits here in Las Vegas, it was fun to hide out in the air conditioning and at least pretend it was egg nog season :-)  So, if you're feeling holly jolly, please jump in and join the fun!

Moxie Fab World: Birthday Card Challenge

I do love to make birthday cards, and I really use them all the time.  I try to stockpile them along with thank you cards since they're so handy.  I also got the opportunity to play with my new fringe scissors, so double bonus!! I really had to manhandle that fringe flower, so next time I'm going for a thinner paper and leaving the heavy duty card stock alone :-)  It did take on a cool shape though, and reminds me of a gerber daisy.

Here is the Link for the fabulous blog and challenge from Moxie Fab World!

UnstampaBelles Challenge #13 - Celebrations!

I am so very excited to be a part of the UnstampaBelles design team and am adding my little celebration card to this month's challenge.  I really broke into the back of the craft stash for this one :-)  I had some old stencils, and one was a party hat!  I busted out a tiny bit of green ribbon (which was the last on the spool) and a big red puff ball that my cat really fought me for :-)  The "celebrate" sticker is from a freebie that came in a trial issue of a scrapbook magazine.  Like I said...back of the stash...but I love how it turned out!  This has pushed me to dig in a find the gems I've hidden away.  So fun :-)

Please check out the Celebrations Challenge and see what the other lovely design members have created and to get in on the fun yourself!!

10 Things to do with Vellum

Today over at Practical Scrappers the ladies are showing us some new ways to use vellum.  My take on this was to combine my love of washi tape with my frugal nature :-)  By stamping on and printing on pages of vellum, I was able to cut strips, tear the edges and spray the back with adhesive and...presto!  Inexpensive and customizable washi tape.  So fun!  Pop on over to see what other great ideas the ladies have to share :-)

Go Fish! Challenge #20

Yay!  Another super fun challenge from the Go Fish! Challenge Blog! This go-around we'll be making Thank You cards using your favorite color.

I have to admit that pink has been my favorite color since I was a little girl, and I find it makes its way into many of the cards I create.  In this card I focused on black and white for a neutral background and then used different shades of pink in the flowers. Click HERE for the challenge!  I hope you can play along.  This is a really fun one :-)  Good luck!!
