Practical Scrappers: Ways to Use Kraft

It's Tuesday which means it's time for another 10 Things over at Practical Scrappers! This week, the ladies are showing us different ways to use Kraft.

For those of you unfamiliar, kraft is a paper color...it's sometimes filled with natural textures and is the color of brown wrapping paper.  It's lovely, but for someone drawn to bright colors (ahem...me!) I really had to stretch my comfort zone this time  :-)

In order to give it a clean and simple twist, I combined a kraft background with canvas/burlap and felt.  This created a monochromatic background with a couple of pops of red.  I think it's a way to keep craft and burlap modern.

If you're looking for more fabulous Kraft inspiration, please swing by the Practical Scrappers page and see what other beautifies the ladies have for us this week!

Practical Scrappers: 10 Things to do with Patterned Paper

It's Tuesday, which means it's time for another 10 Things over at Practical Scrappers!

This week's challenge was to find a fun way to use patterned papers in our projects.  This was an easy one for me because I LOVE patterned papers and use them in almost every single thing I make.  My stash is overflowing a bit these days, and I will freely admit that I have a little "problem" in the paper-hoarding department :-)

My take on the challenge was a pretty easy design trick to create cohesion and visual interest.  Since chevrons are so popular and in nearly every new pack of paper I pick up, I used four different colored and sized chevron patterns and repeated them to create a unique background for my card. It's a great trick for fast clean and simple cards!

Easy peasy!  So please stop on by Practical Scrappers to see what other fun ideas the ladies have come up with :-)

Go Fish Challenge: Color Challenge

Hello there scrappy folks!  Hope the new year is treating your well!  Things are still pretty crazy over here.  Our house is almost completely unpacked and we have 19 weeks until our new baby boy arrives!  Kind of crazy :-)  Feeling the pressure since the nursery is no where near complete and it looks like hubby may have some deployments on the very near horizon :-(  Always an adventure at our house!

Instead of working on the house, today was a crafty day and I was able to procrastinate with a fun card for this week's Color Challenge over at Go Fish!  I'm back to stocking up on birthday cards, since we have a few birthdays coming up soon.

So, please stop by the Go Fish Challenge Blog and show us your take on this pretty palette :-)

Practical Scrappers: 10 Things You Can Do with Felt

Practical Scrappers has reorganized a bit for the new year and I'm very proud to say that I'm now on the "Ten Things Team"!  This means, every Tuesday, the ladies of Practical Scrappers and I will be showing you 10 ways to use a single item.  So fun!

This week, the ladies were given felt.  In my take, I used pink felt as a layer in paper piecing and it definitely highlights a focal point.  Please stop by Practical Scrappers and check out what other creative ways the ladies are using felt in their scrappy creations!

UnstampaBelles Challenge: Use One or More Die Cuts

Hello again!  Today over at the UnstampaBelles Challenge, the ladies are showing us their creations using one or more die cuts!  I've recently "rediscovered" my Cricut and have been dusting off my older cartridges and giving them some much needed action :-)

For my card, I've used several layered flower die cuts to create the large flower and then accented with smaller die cut flowers and hearts.  The card is my "busier" version of color blocking :-)

Extra enticement, this month's challenge is sponsored by Craftmad!

Here's my take on the challenge and I can't wait to see what you create!

Here is my take on the challenge.  It's a thank you note going out to one of my very sweet friends.  She just sent us our first Baby Boy outfit!!!  So, so cute :-)  Only she and I predicted a baby boy :-)
